Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles open up about their relationship and how they actually met.

While on The Pivot Podcast with retired NFL football players Channing Crowder, Ryan Clark, and Fred Taylor, the couple spoke on how they met. After admitting that they met on the dating app Raya, Owens said, “It’s really how she pulled me man, that’s the question. I’m like, ‘Lemme see who this is.’ I never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity,” he said.

The Olympic gold medalist made the first move by sending The Green Bay Packers player a message on the app. “I didn’t know who she was at the time. But like, the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of followers. So in my mind I’m like, ‘OK, she’s got to be good,’” Owens said.

The hosts shared their skepticism on how Owens didn’t know who Simone Biles was because she was on everything during that time. However, he clarified what he meant. “When she won the Olympics, I was in college, and we didn’t have NBC, we didn’t have Olympics channels, and we were in camp in late July, early August. So I’m not paying attention. I never had a moment where I would have watched.”

The conversation went on to reveal when they started talking via text messages and when they met in person to getting married.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens got married earlier in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico after meeting in 2020.
