Country music icon Dolly Parton has extended her congratulations to Beyoncé on her latest history-making feat on the country music charts with “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
Parton, a self-proclaimed member of the Bey-hive, expressed her excitement not only for Beyoncé’s forthcoming album, but also for her chart-topping single.
“I’m a big fan of Beyonce and very excited that she’s done a country album,” wrote tsinger on her Instagram story. “So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can’t wait to hear the full album!”
Beyoncé’s upcoming eighth studio album, Renaissance Act II, is set to release on March 29. The Texas star made waves with her “country era,” becoming the first woman to top both the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Charts, according to Billboard. Additionally, Beyoncé achieved another milestone as the first Black woman to debut atop the Country chart.
“Texas Hold ’Em” and “16 Carriages” were released simultaneously in a surprise album announcement during the 2024 Super Bowl. The announcement, which featured Beyoncé in a Verizon ad contemplating ways to captivate the world, marked the beginning of her next musical journey.
According to Billboard, “Texas Hold ‘Em” garnered over 19.2 million official streams and 4.8 million in all-format airplay audience, along with selling 39,000 copies in the US through February 15. Meanwhile, “16 Carriages” brought in 10.3 million streams, reached 90,000 in radio airplay, and sold 14,000 copies.
Beyoncé’s previous albums have all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, from Dangerously in Love in 2003 to Renaissance in 2022. It’s anticipated that Renaissance Act II will continue this streak.
