Cassie Ventura will testify in Diddy’s upcoming trial under her real name.
Reports state a motion was filed on April 4, which identified the “Me & U” singer as “Victim-1” for the trial. In this trial, Diddy is charged with racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The motion also states she is ready to “testify under her own name.” It also says that “Victim-2, Victim-3, and Victim-4 have asked to remain anonymous.” It continued, “The victims who wish to remain anonymous have been requested by prosecutors to be “referred to at trial using only pseudonyms and for the court to require the defense to not share any details that identify them.”
The prosecutors’ filing states, “This case has already received an exceptional amount of media coverage, which will presumably only increase as trial proceeds.” It continued, “Permitting these measures will prevent unnecessary public disclosure of the victims’ identities, and the harassment from the media and others, undue embarrassment, and other adverse consequences that would almost certainly follow if these women were forced to reveal their true names publicly at trial.”
Diddy is currently behind bars at Brooklyn’s MCO and was recently hit with two more criminal charges. Prosecutors filed another indictment with an additional charge of sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The disgraced media mogul’s legal team released a statement clarifying that the charges are not from new accusers. “These are the same individuals, former long-term girlfriends, involved in consensual relationships,” his lawyers said. “This was their private sex life.”
The new charges state that Diddy “recruited enticed, harbored, transported, and maintained Victim-2, and attempted, aided and abetted, and willfully caused Victim-2, to engage in commercial sex acts, knowing and in reckless disregard of the fact that Victim-2 was engaging in commercial sex acts as a result of force, fraud, and coercion.”
Diddy’s trial is set to start next month.
