Ja Rule reveals that he tried to bring peace between Ashanti and the late Irv Gotti.
During a recent interview on the BagFuel podcast, the rapper discussed his time in Fast & Furious and the memories he had of the late DMX when he was asked if he had tried to smooth things over between Ashanti and Gotti.
Before his untimely death, it was rumored that Gotti had a relationship with the “Rain on Me,” and he even addressed their alleged relationship on an episode of Drink Champs in 2022. His statements came after Ashanti and her now-husband, Nelly.
Ashanti would later address Gotti’s comments in an interview, saying that he was lying. However, after his passing, she did say that she wished that their ending was different. During Ja Rule’s interview, he called Ashanti and Irv Gotti his “sister” and “brother.” Then he said, “It’s really like a family thing. I’m y’all brother, how much do y’all want me to get involved?”
He went on the say that the situation was “uncomfortable” for him at times. “It’s just sad that my brother and my sister were arguing and going through it like that,” he said. “I tried to play the peacemaker. I tried plenty of times to mediate the shit, but it came to a point where I was like, ‘You know what? I’m out of it. Y’all f*****g deal with it.’”
The rapper added, “‘I’m not doing none of that shit. I’m out. Just leave me the fuck out of it. Y’all deal with it. Y’all grown.” And everybody was cool with my stance, and that’s fine. So, I wish it could have been different.”
