Jennifer Lopez couldn’t be more excited about Bad Bunny’s upcoming Super Bowl performance
Appearing on TODAY, Lopez expressed her support for Bad Bunny, a fellow Puerto Rican.
Lopez also reminded host Craig Melvin that they performed together almost six years ago.
“We did!” Lopez said, referring to her 2020 Super Bowl performance. “Me, Shakira, J Balvin, and we had an amazing time. It was a really cultural moment.”
“I think he’s about to blow everybody’s mind. It’s an introduction to some people,” Lopez said of Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance.
“What do you make of the controversy?” Melvin asked.
“Is there controversy?” Lopex replied. “I swear I don’t know.”
“There are a lot of folks who have not been wild about the idea,” Melvin explained.
When Lopez asked Melvin to clarify his statement, he said, “You’d have to ask them. He’s wildly popular, but for a lot of folks, they have said, it should be someone else.”
“But why? I don’t understand that. He’s one of the top artists in the world right now, probably the top,” Lopez argued.
“It could be a lot of different people. That’s the thing. I’m super excited for people to see him,” Lopez continued. “I think they’ll be pleasantly surprised because his music transcends language. It’s amazing what he’s done. He’s done something that a lot of people have never done in their lives.”
“I’m so excited for him. I was excited when he performed with us at the Super Bowl and I’m excited to see what he does. He puts on a great show and he’s an amazing entertainer,” she added.
Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski already said that ICE agents would be present at the Super Bowl.
Bad Bunny confirmed that would be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime show on social media.
“I’ve been thinking about it these days,” Bad Bunny said. “And after discussing it with my team, I think I’ll do just one date in the United States.”
