Reality-star and academic Wendy Osefo addressed the public for the first time Thursday, more than a month after she and husband Eddie Osefo were arrested on fraud allegations. The pair were booked Oct. 9 in Maryland on a total of 16 charges, including multiple felony counts, tied to what authorities say was a staged burglary and false insurance filings.

In a post on Instagram, Osefo wrote: “And through it all, GOD remains faithful. Thank you for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers for myself and most importantly my family during this time. We are forever grateful.” She also invited followers to tune into the latest episode of her television show.

At a panel appearance at BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas, Osefo appeared publicly alongside her castmates from The Real Housewives of Potomac, marking her first major outing since the arrest. She told the audience: “You know, it’s an unfortunate situation, and right now I can’t say too much. But I will say when the time is right, I will share my story with everyone. For now, they’re just allegations.”

She added: “I would just like to thank my cast members for being there for me during this time… I am just so grateful for the support I’ve gotten from my cast members, our production team, and Bravo. I am overwhelmed by the love.”

Authorities allege the Osefos claimed a burglary in April 2024 at their home while vacationing in Jamaica, reporting losses of designer handbags and jewelry. Investigators later found items had been returned for refunds and some reportedly still in the home.

In addition, news outlets report that Osefo resigned from her visiting professor role at Wesleyan University following the arrests. The university stated she is no longer employed; however, Osefo’s representatives said she submitted her resignation voluntarily.

Legal proceedings remain pending, and no trial date has been publicly confirmed. In her brief remarks, Osefo made clear she intends to tell her full version of events “when the time is right.” Meanwhile, she emphasized her focus on family and faith.

Media personality Andy Cohen, who hosts projects on Bravo, has weighed in: “I’m a Wendy fan and she has been a great Housewife and a great role model,” he said. “She’s always led with education and her solid family values.”
